Location

Kenya lies across the equator on the east coast of Africa and borders Ethiopia and Sudan to the north, Uganda to the west, Tanzania to the south and Somalia and the Indian Ocean to the east. The lowest point is along the Indian Ocean while the highest point is Mt. Kenya, 5,199 m above sea level.

Climate

Kenya is an equatorial country and the weather is generally good and pleasant all year round. February and March are the hottest months while the coldest periods are July and August. Long rains occur in April and June while short rains from October to December.

Culture

Kenya has a culture born of countless sources. The 42 tribes enjoy diversity, unity and harmony of its people, who comprise of the Cushitic speaking nomads, Bantu speakers and the Nilotes, as well as the non-Africans (Asians, Europeans and Arabs). Although the local languages still strongly exist, Kiswahili and English are the official languages.
