The House
Position
The plot is situated between the sea front and the tarmac road approximately 1 km north of Watamu Village. The entrance to the plot is located just opposite the "Snake Park" owned by Mrs. Ashe.
The house is built on the coral cliff about 35m from the sea, overlooking the sandy bay north of Watamu Village. The sand beach, that forms part of the plot, is about 60m north of the house.
Facilities & Rooms
The house is very spacious, has four double bedrooms (2 en suite, the other two share one bath room), a large lounge/dining room, kitchen and other amenities.
It is fully furnished with all bed linen, towels, mosquito nets and kitchen utensils being available. Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels.
The layout of the house makes it possible to be in open air throughout the year; be it in the Pergola to the sea front, the covered terrace or the court yard towards the back of the house.
Although there is ample piped water, it is advisable to use this precious commodity very cautiously. Hot water is provided to all bathrooms by a large solar system. The house is connected to the power supply of Kenya Power & Lighting but should the power supply fail a 2.5 kW generator can be connected to the designated connection at the entrance of the house.
Caretaker
The house help, Julius and or Wanje, are responsible for the smooth running of the household. He is also a good source of information. He is doing the laundry the cleaning the rooms. He is able to prepare basic meals or Swahili meals. Their working hours are in principle as required by the guests but not exceeding 9 hours a day and not later than 21.00 hrs (9pm) unless agreed otherwise in advance.
Overtime: If necessary Julius can be asked to work overtime. Please let him know in advance and pay him directly.
Security
There are panic buttons installed in the house which are connected to the control room of the security company. Ask Julius where the buttons are placed. Two watchmen patrol the plot during night time.
NOTE:
Unfortunately we had two (hopefully) isolated incidents of theft at the beach about 5 years back. Therefore we advise you not to leave any of your belongings lying on the beach when going for a swim or a walk along the beach.
